Job Description

CEDA is currently seeking a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to join the team at SUNCOR near Fort McMurray! If you are a quick learner, approachable, adaptable, possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure; apply now!

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for implementing and maintaining HSE Management System, programs and initiatives throughout the organization and within an operational team setting
  • Liaison with clients, third parties, HSE and other internal clients (e.g. Learning and Development, Business Development and other Companies within CEDA)
  • Facilitating CEDA’s incident investigation program deliverables in conjunction with responsible operational team members, providing coaching and feedback where necessary
  • Responsible for location documentation management and development in accordance with organizational expectations
  • Audit and monitor CEDA’s risk management program elements as required in accordance with organizational and client expectations
  • Support work location risk management communications by researching and providing appropriate materials for operational team members and acting as an HSE subject matter resource for the team
  • Develop and facilitate learning sessions or presentations to increase awareness of organizational risk management practices
  • Identify HSE coaching opportunities throughout the organization, offer yourself as a HSE subject matter resource and actively participate in leading indicator activities

Role Specifications:

  • 3-5+ years of HSE experience
  • HSE diploma/certificate, National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Professional (CRSP) is an asset
  • Operational field or safety experience in an industrial industry is an asset
  • A strong working knowledge of related Occupational Health & Safety legislation as well as Environmental and Transportation regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and able to pick up new computer systems easily
  • Valid Class 5 licence with no more than 5 demerits
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the Fort McMurray region
