Job Description

CEDA is looking for a Lead Hand for our Dredge Fluid Management team to work at our Fort McMurray, AB location at Kearl Lake.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing a wide variety of jobs using basic construction skills and/or operating some power equipment.
  • Cleaning, preparation and maintenance of construction equipment or components.
  • Participating in daily tool box talk meetings, weekly safety meetings, Safety tours & CEDA’s ICE card program.
  • Required to operate and maintain deposition areas, plant facilities, tank farm location, screen tanks & manage sump levels.
  • Required to manipulate valves, Rig In/Out diesel pumps, Operation of Dredges & Diesel /Electric pumps, skid steer, etc.
  • Perform other activities to assist with process and machine operators.
  • Maintain Cleanliness of equipment & Housekeeping in immediate work areas.
  • May be required to assist with minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to travel and flexibility in scheduling in required.

Role Specifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with pumps, centrifuge systems or dredging and dewatering
  • Valid Class 5 licence with a clean abstract
  • Valid CSO certification (or combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional or BSO)
  • Valid Pleasure Craft operator card is desirable
  • Marine Emergency Duties (A1 or A3) licence is an asset
  • Small Vessel Operator (SVOP) training is an asset
  • Able to provide a negative pre-employment alcohol and drug test;
  • Able to work in confined space or at heights with the use of fall restraint equipment is an asset
  • Comfortable with the use of additional respiratory equipment (N-95 Dust Mask / North Half mask)

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable being on and around open bodies of water
  • Comfortable working outdoors in harsh weather conditions
  • You have the ability to prioritize and initiate innovative solutions
  • You demonstrate strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • You possess an uncompromising commitment to health and safety at all times
