Job Description

CEDA is looking for a Transportation Safety Specialist to join our team in Edmonton! The Transportation Safety Specialist will be an expert in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and responsible for building out a compliance system; enhancing governing documents, educating, coaching/mentoring, and auditing. 

This is an ideal role for a Certified Transportation Safety Professional (CTSP) with prior experience in Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance. Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and ensure current fleet compliance systems and programs comply with current legislation, with the ability to provide revision recommendations as required
  • Develop a process to manage CEDA’s provincial and federal regulatory requirements related to Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and additional areas (ERAP, Contingency Plan, etc.). Additionally, create a matrix that outlines what is required and who is responsible to confirm all requirements are met
  • Create and maintain a system/ audit protocol to verify compliance
  • Maintain the Emergency Response and Assistance Plan for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Maintain CEDA’s Canadian Transport Emergency Centre (CANUTEC) account for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Maintain provincial compliance and contingency plans such as Ontario’s Environment Compliance approval and British Columbia’s Spill Contingency Plan.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Transportation Safety Professional (CTSP) with 3 years of experience in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) or Transportation and National Safety is required
  • 5+ years of experience with minimal training will be considered
  • Experience with DOT (compliance officer) would be a strong asset
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and research skills
  • Experience in Oil and Gas Health and Safety is an asset
