Job Description

CEDA is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team! Directly reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, this role provides technical support to the Chemical Cleaning business units across CEDA International Corporation. This position is based out of our Edmonton, Alberta office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Key Laboratory Duties:

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine most effective cleaning techniques using chemical systems.
  • Provide customer support to CEDA clients by discussing results, need and requirements.
  • Work on developing Environmental Green formulations and procedures for chemical cleaning procedures.
  • Testing and evaluating new chemicals.
  • Corrosion testing on different metallurgy with different chemical solutions.
  • Vapor Phase Cleaning and product development.
  • Research and development.
  • Designing and updating new analytical techniques for chemical analysis.
  • Updating old procedures and developing new.
  • Ordering reagents and equipment as required for lab.
  • Developing and screening new products for practical field applications.
  • Working on updating SDS’s. Ensuring all SDS is in compliance.
  • Sourcing out new products.

Key Field Duties:

  • Providing technical support to chemical cleaning jobs.
  • Running and maintaining HACH; testing irons, silica, calcium, phosphate, chlorides, copper, nitrates, sulfates etc.
  • Analytical titrations for acids, bases, oxidizers, etc.
  • Trouble shooting.

Chemical Purchaser Duties:

  • Order chemical for all Canadian CEDA Divisions
  • On call for after-hours chemical orders
  • Inventory control
  • Researching for better prices and quality of chemical
  • Keeping a customer/client relationship for better service
  • Month end reports for the Blend Plant

Role Specifications

  • Valid Class 5 license with no more than 5 demerits in last 3 years is required
  • 1+ years’ of industry related experience
  • 5+ years of Laboratory experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, or related post-secondary is required;
  • Able to provide a negative result on a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • CSTS-09 & OSSA Regional; BSO or Common Safety Orientation certification required
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Field/Industrial job site experience is an asset
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel throughout Canada is required
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently
  • Shift work and overtime required
