Job Description

Our client is a leading North American processor and marketer of value-added frozen food. We are seeking a Manager of Cost Accountingto become the newest member of their Finance Team.
 
This position will be responsible for providing manufactured costs of new and existing items, providing data analysis to support multiple departments, cost variance reconciliation, and reporting to management in a timely and accurate manner.  The right candidate must have the flexibility to solve practical problems when confronted with multiple variables. A proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and strong communication skills are the keys to be successful in this position.
 
As the Manager of Cost Accounting, a typical day might include the following:

    Quoting Projects (New Products)
    Ensuring accurate costing of new products is completed to marketing timeline.
    Working with manufacturing groups to develop cost quotes for multiple locations and compare assumptions going into each quote understanding cost differences
    Setting Standard cost for New Components
    Creating BOM and Routers for New Products and rolling Standard Costs
    Review and recommending changes when product cost has +/-5% variance between Current Cost vs. Std Cost
    Bill of Material maintenance - Manage the Completion of ECN change requests accurately and in appropriate timeline to include updating existing work order's materials after changing bill of materials & updating all other manufacturing databases
    Manage the Annual Budget in the Following Areas;

    Annual Cost Roll process – including standards, Routers, BOM Changes
    Coordinate and ensure proposed Material Usage and Router changes in JDE  & other manufacturing databases.
    Complete and validate Annual Cost Roll-up.
    Year-end Inventory revaluation from Cost Roll
    Provide budget transfer pricing for products manufactured in the US plants for Canadian market?

 
Requirements:

    Must have at least 5-7 years experience working in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years experience as a Manager with Direct Reports.
    It would be a plus if the candidate has experience with JDE but will consider experience with similar ERP systems.
    Prefer to see a Bachelors degree, something Accounting or Finance related would be preferred, but if you have a different degree we’d still consider you! Just be prepared to tell us how your degree has helped you in your current and previous roles.
    There is a lot of inter-department interaction, so you’ll need to be able to work well with other departments and personalities, including non-financial personnel.
    This is a fast paced, high volume department, you’ll need to remain calm, cool and collected and make sure that no details are overlooked.

Pay range will be between $75,000 to $95,000 and is directly related to your past experience and capabilities.
