In legendary Napa Valley, John Caldwell is a legend all his own (think rock star of the wine world). The original wine industry maverick and the man responsible for “introducing” (some might call it smuggling) the most prized Bordeaux root stock and grapevine clones to California, John helped to revolutionize the foundation of modern winemaking in North America. Just google him.

Today, John and Joy Caldwell produce 23 different clone- and varietal-specific wines from their 123-acre estate in Napa Valley’s Coombsville appellation. It’s one of the most beautiful places on earth.  Can you picture yourself here as our  Wine Club (Society of Smugglers) + Hospitality Extraodinaire?

We are growing! We’re hard-working, loyal, foul-mouthed, fun loving folks with stunning wines (that sell out within months of release). We’re a get it done, take no prisoners kinda place. Are you our kind of people?

We are looking for a dynamic and meticulous (with a bit of mischief sprinkled in) ringleader for our Society of Smugglers. Someone to inspire allegiance, spur members to grow their Caldwell collection and facilitate maximum ultilization of club benefits.

What you'll be doing:

• Interacting via email and phones with high-end, high expectations, clients daily. You know them, relate to them (even in an aspirational way) and enjoy making them part of Caldwell. It's a heavy load.
• Managing the Society of Smugglers shipment calendar and process from A - Z. We're talking from arranging the shipments, processing credit cards and handling any snafus along the way. 
• Connecting with Industry Comrades (Drivers, Concierges' and other tasting rooms) to generate revenue in the tasting room.
• Managing the wine club's Smugglers who elect to participate in the Smuggler's Barrel Program. You'll organize the blending seminars, packaging details and keep them on point with deadlines.  (don't worry, we'll show you the ropes).
• Maintaining current Society of Smuggler revenue flow while scheming with the Director of Business Growth for a major growth spurt come 2015
• Being the point person for planning and organizing all Society of Smugglers' events throughout the year and of course be an engaging part of the event.
• Working in a cross-functional capacity juggling the telephones with a smile and entering wine orders with precision and speed, like an indy car racer, and occasionally leading a tasting in the tasting room.
  
• Kicking ass every day, getting at least 100 different things done and feeling good about it.  

You’re OUR person if:

• You eat, breathe and sleep all things hospitality and love connecting with people over the phone/email
  
• You love to personally touch each and every smuggler (no, not in that way... silly!)
• You’re a super-human who can stay uber organized in a tornado.
• You’re intellect is nimble as a gazelle but your sensibility is grounded like a meditating Buddha.
• You can plan to the smallest detail but don't get your feathers ruffled when the wind changes.
• You love data entry and get excited when you power through to enter every single item.
• You’re not afraid of research and love the process of innovation.
• You're Tech savvy with knowledge or interest in new applications and how they’ll make our lives easier. 
• You’re a team player and enjoy paving the path with your colleagues.    
• You’re not easily offended and take no issue with four letters words. In fact you may even make up your own from time to time! 

The usual stuff:

• Proven track record (3+ years) of managing a high end wine club.
• Winery commerce software (we use ewinery, but transitioning to Vin65) and excel, and consider them close and personal friends.
• Must be able to lift 40lbs, equivalent to a case of wine.
