Job Description

CapTech is looking for a Performance Test Lead responsible for all aspects of testing activities and owning the quality of projects, but has a strong passion for performance testing. Proactively contributes, offers recommendations, and identifies risks and solutions associated with proposed or existing software applications strategies.  Well versed in all aspects of testing (e.g. analysis, planning, performance, automation, user acceptance) and able to speak to needs for each. Has broad expertise in the field’s concepts, practices and procedures, and expertly performs a variety of complex tasks with minimal guidance.

Specific responsibilities for the Performance Test Lead position include:

  • Oversees all test activity for a given project (not limited to Quality Services). 
  • Partners with project stakeholders to ensure effective planning and requirements definition.
  • Analyzes requirements, deliverables, results, etc. 
  • Assists in performance requirement definition. 
  • Performs risk analysis.
  • Ensures consistency and adherence to organizational practices. Builds and evaluates quality checkpoints. 
  • Reviews, monitors and summarizes progress of project testing activities – especially performance testing
  • Reviews reports regarding status of project. 
  • Active participant in all phases of the project lifecycle. Work with project stakeholders during project definition to help the team understand risks, dependencies, and opportunities; participate in requirements definition and review; lend subject matter expertise to projects. 
  • Develops test strategies, test approaches for performance and automation events
  • Suggest and implement process improvements that will accomplish team, department and business goals.
  • Striving for efficiency, consistency and effectiveness
  • Provide mentoring or coaching to engineers, software developers and QA testers.

Qualifications

 Minimum 5-7 (2 of which are specific to the Financial industry desired) of increasingly responsible experience in the fields of quality assurance and quality control. Advanced knowledge of testing, including risk-based testing, quality assurance processes and methodologies, software development practices, project management methodologies, test case management and defect management practices, required. Individual should also have experience with PCI, SOX and corporate audit processes.

Required experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent degree and/or experience
  • 2+ years of software development and automation & performance testing experience 
  • 5+ yrs experience as a Software Quality Assurance Tester
  • 5+ yrs experience in creating test plans and test cases from technical requirements
  • Ability to organize and lead testing efforts and the ability to write a test approach/strategy.
  • Technical skills and programming languages should include but is not limited to: Java, JavaScript, Python, C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, HTML
  • Strong performance testing experience ideally with Apache JMeter
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Experience working in an agile engineering environment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Quality Center, ALM, Jira, Rally or related tools
  • Familiarity with software testing (unit, integration, functional, regression).
  • Experience with source control, build and deployment tools such as Subversion, Jenkins, Maven, Git, TeamCity, Hudson.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools and frameworks such as Cucumber, Gherkin, Ruby, Selenium
  • Familiarity with web services standards and related technologies (XML, SOAP, JSON, etc.).
  • Experience working on Linux/Unix and Cloud environment – Salesforce and Workday is a plus
  • Knowledge of database query tools and ability write and run SQL queries
