Catalia Health is working to improve the way people manage chronic disease.  We work with patients across many diseases, including within cancer, heart disease, and immunologic conditions. Our Mabu healthcare coach is a novel interactive robotic companion built on top of psychological theories of relationship development combined with current human-robot interaction work. This core platform builds strong relationships between the robot and the patient by having regular conversations to help them better manage their ongoing healthcare challenges. The information generated as a result of these conversations is shared with their doctors to help to improve their overall care.

The Mabu platform is based on founder Dr. Cory Kidd’s 20+ years of experience in healthcare technology and human-robot interaction. This is combined with a strong core team that has been developing the technology (hardware and software) and user experience for the past seven years. Mabu was designed in collaboration with IDEO, the pre-eminent design firm, where Catalia Health was Startup in Residence at IDEO’s San Francisco studio.

Catalia Health is backed by a group of investors that includes some large Silicon Valley funds. We have major industry customers like Pfizer and Novartis with whom we are rolling out our products. We’re looking for collaborators who want to join a team focused on solving real-world healthcare challenges for a large and growing number of people.

We’re a small, tight team working to change the future of healthcare.  Even prior to Covid we were a distributed team and particularly our engineering department.  While there is an office in San Francisco that you're welcome to use if you're nearby, there is no expectation that you're anywhere close.  Your collaborators are spread out across all of the US time zones.

We are hiring a a senior backend engineer who is experience in and desire to be responsible for the following key tasks:

• Cloud Engine features and micro-services
• Partner data integrations
• Various other integrations that make our services run (Twilio, fitbit, etc)
• Building internal web tools and APIs

The ideal candidate has strong experience in agile software development practices and is excellent at communicating with engineers and non-engineers alike.
