Job Description

FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics, Inc. (FCDI) located in Madison, WI is recruiting for a Scientist - Assay Development  Qualified individuals will have interests in molecular or cellular biology and be experienced in assay development, ideally with proven accomplishments in the use of human iPSC-derived cell types. The successful applicant will have a strong scientific background and keen understanding of developing, running, and troubleshooting cell-based assays, including the areas of cellular imaging, flow cytometry, molecular biology, gene expression, and high throughput screening (≥96-well plates). Expertise with instrumentation or automation is definitely a plus.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to design experiments, analyzed data, establish a robust assay protocol, build a relevant disease model, and transition a good idea into commercial success. In this role you will be responsible for the following:

Essential Job Functions

  1. Develop functional cell-based assays to assess the performance of iPSC-derived cell types.
  2. Interact with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot existing products and create improved assay content.
  3. Evaluate platform technologies and instrumentation for internal use or potential outsourcing opportunities.
  4. Write protocols, technical reports, SOPs, and appropriate documentation for processes.
  5. Other job functions as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or related field; or master’s degree in comparable field plus 3 years of relevant experience
  • 1 year of experience in stem cell-related research or assay development; industry experience preferred
  • Functional proficiency with imaging-based assays, along with knowledge of 3D cell culture or co-culture systems
  • Demonstrated and effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a cross-functional, matrix-style organization
  • Demonstrated work ethic, initiative, the ability to multi-task, and intellectual curiosity to new technical skills.
  • Demonstrated and effective communication skills, and proficiency working independently and as part of a team
  • Some weekend work may be required
  • Able to work at computer and/or a laboratory hood for extended periods of time
  • Able to work with hazardous materials (i.e. chemicals, electrical equipment, and human tissue) without endangering oneself or others
  • Able to wear standard laboratory PPE
