We develop and manufacture fully functioning human cells in industrial quantities to precise specifications. Our proprietary iCell Operating System (iCell O/S) includes true human cells in multiple cell types (iCell products), human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and custom iPSCs and iCell products (MyCell products).

Our iCell O/S products provide standardized, easy-to-use, cost-effective access to the human cell, the smallest fully functioning operating unit of human biology. Customers use our iCell O/S products, among other purposes, for drug discovery and screening; to test the safety and efficacy of their small molecule and biologic drug candidates; for stem cell banking; and in researching cellular therapeutics.

Job Description

Cellular Dynamics is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician at our Novato, CA location, located within the Buck Institute. This position requires a motivated and self-directed individual to maintain the laboratory and laboratory supplies in a clean, ready and working order. Future responsibilities may include taking part in production and quality systems projects.  This position also requires a Sunday through Thursday work schedule.

Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Understand basic laboratory concepts and be able to perform basic lab techniques, including aseptic technique for medium preparation, accurate measurement of reagents using balances or pipets and appropriate handling of chemicals.
  • Follow manufacturing/quality control protocols reproducibly within a specified timeframe.
  • Apply good documentation practices when recording data and completing records, hand written or electronic.
  • Follow production schedules to assure on-time delivery of necessary material.
  • Effectively communicate day-to-day activities within Production department.
  • Provide data or information to others in work group via Excel spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint or verbal presentation.
  • Maintain laboratory standards (temperature status, inventory, routine equipment maintenance).
  • Assist in production cell culture activities, such as culture feeding.
  • Receive and process daily shipments.
  • Understand and comply with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to CDI business.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or other related science.
  • 0-2 years’ experience of reagent preparation and laboratory maintenance.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Windows and data management systems
  • Able to work a Sunday through Thursday work schedule.

Additional Information

  • Able to work in laboratory hood for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work in shifts with occasional weekend duties or overtime.
  • Able to work with hazardous materials (i.e. chemicals, electrical equipment, human tissue) without endangering oneself or others.
  • Able to work at computer for extended periods of time.
  • Able to wear standard laboratory PPE.
  • Able to occasionally lift 50 pounds.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Knowledge of Kanban system a plus.
