AIRSIDE BATTERY ENGINEER
Location: London Heathrow Airport
Salary: £25k pa
Our client is an award winning Industrial Battery Company. Due to continued growth we are looking to recruit Service Engineers in the South East.
Ideally you would have electro / mechanical experience with a clean driving licence. Common sense approach is a must! You would be working independently and as part of a team servicing, installing and maintaining industrial batteries and chargers. You may also be required to become involved in the servicing of electrical vehicles. We work at the world’s busiest airport looking after clients needs; it can at times be a pressurised but rewarding role. You would need to have a fully traceable 5 years working history for security clearance.
Salary would be in the region of £20-£25k dependant on experience.

Qualifications
Knowledge
Electrical knowledge, mechanical knowledge preferably to HNC standard.
Previous or relevant experience / training necessary
Experience in an industrial maintenance.
Knowledge of industrial batteries.
Previous experience working in an airport.
Aptitudes and skills required
Problem-solving and faultfinding skill.
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, as work commonly brings operative into close contact with customers.
Must be able to work within a small team of people and also be able to work independently as required during the working week.
Literate and numerate
Personal qualities/ temperament
Calm and able to deal with pressure.
Committed and self-motivated.
Adaptable to needs of the service

Special requirements of the post
Hold a driving licence.

Physical Effort
Frequent manual handling of heavy equipment and material loads often exceeding 25kg one or more occasions per shift on average.
Frequent topping up of batteries every shift
Occasional requirement to lift heavy loads for several long periods per shift when replacing large batteries, sometimes within confined spaces with restricted access.
Ongoing physical exertion to complete tasks.
Ongoing requirement every shift to transport bulky and/or unbalanced loads to and from place of work involving carrying / walking.
Mental Effort
Frequent requirement for concentration every shift whilst working on batteries. Written/verbal instructions and working with engineering drawings.
Continual unpredictable workload. Rectify the situation speedily and safely.
Inspecting equipment and writing reports.
Emotional Effort/Communications
As front line maintenance operatives, exposure to customers during each shift.
There is an ongoing requirement to communicate with customers at differing levels in achieving delivery of maintenance.
