PURPOSE OF ROLE

 

To provide technical support for the clients Supply Chain, Purchasing and Warehouse Teams in delivering C Vehicles and other defence contract equipment.


MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identification of product from technical publications and drawings
  • Liaison with OEMs and parts suppliers to identify common commercial service parts
  • Stock rationalisation, identification of duplicated parts coming from several sources in particular filters, bulbs, fasteners, lighting, tooling and consumables.
  • Provide assistance to the Client’s Technical Helpdesk to resolve spares queries
  • Assist the purchasing team in finding alternative, more cost effective sources of parts including repair options, to help improve parts availability.   
  • Action priority codification requests on behalf of the Authority.
  • Identification of parts to be included in spares packs for deployment of military equipment.

 

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS·         Qualified to HNC or equivalent experience in an engineering / automotive discipline.

  • Effective communicator.
  • Resilient and clear thinking under pressure.
  • Literate and numerate.
  • Team player.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within an engineering, automotive or construction plant environment.
  • Computer Literate, experienced in using databases / spreadsheets.
  • Previous experience of the MoD advantageous but not essential.

 

Qualifications

Candidate Profile:

  • We are ideally looking for someone who has a mechanical background and has physically used the tools to repair HGV Commercial or HGV Plant equipment ideally a fitter with service desk experience;
  • They need to be analytical  and good at problem solving;
  • PC skills at an intermediate or advanced level are required together with the ability to interpret different technical systems to obtain the required answers to technical queries, zip files, PDF files, Excel spread sheets and word and outlook;
  • Communications skills are key due to the nature of the role

  • Salary circa £25k to £27k maximum
  • MOD Security Clearance required
  • Location Mod site in Bicester – Oxford
  • Working hours 37 per week Monday to Friday inclusive
  • 25 days annual leave + 8 statutory holidays per calendar year;
    • Eligible to join the Personal Pension Plan
