Job Description

The communications coordinator is responsible for supporting the Member & External Communications team to deliver on a variety of member-related communications projects and initiatives to further Central 1’s strategic priorities and fulfil administration duties. This position calls for someone who has strong attention to detail, with excellent writing, editing and organizational skills. We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid to ask questions and who is eager to learn and develop as a communicator.

You'll be primarily accountable for providing project coordination and administration/communications
support to the Member & External Communications department. Specific duties may include the following:

  • Writing and copying edit content;

  • Using tools such as MailChimp, GoToWebinar, JoinMe, PowerPoint, Keynote;

  • Organizing meetings (both in-person and webinar/virtual);

  • Assisting with overall support of events and projects such as quarterly Member webinars;

  • Managing version control/approvals process for materials such as presentations;

  • Processing expense reports and invoices, and other administrative functions;

  • Coordinating travel for team members;

  • Working with the Director to deploy the best tools and strategies to provide different Member
    groups with the information they need;

  • Providing support to internal clients for their external communications needs;

  • Working effectively and collaboratively with colleagues across boundaries (business
    lines and regions);

  • Demonstrating the ability to balance multiple demands and projects successfully, effectively
    prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines;

  • Other communication and administrative duties as assigned.



Qualifications

As the ideal candidate you have:

  • A post-secondary education combined with at least 1 to 2 years’ experience working in a corporate environment;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Superb organization skills and attention to detail;

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer focus;

  • Possess maturity and professionalism to work with employees at all levels;

  • Technologically savvy with ability to learn new processes; proficient in the digital sphere;

  • Have experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required; experience with online content management systems preferred ;

  • Previous exposure to the credit union system would be an asset but not required;

  • A demonstrated team player with ability to maintain strong working relationships in cross-functional teams;
  • A self starter with a strong work ethic who is able to prioritize and work to deadlines in a fast paced environment.
