Job Description

Open House Chicago 2013 (OHC) is a free, weekend long event taking place October 19th-20th which welcomes visitors behind-the-scenes into over 150 great places and spaces across the city of Chicago.  This internship provides a unique opportunity to make behind the scenes visits to great places, spaces and neighborhoods across Chicago as well as free admittance to tour offerings and a one year membership to the Chicago Architecture Foundation. 

 

Objective:  To assist OHC staff with organization and management of OHC site registration and compliance process and production of monthly e-newsletter.   

  

Under the direction of the OHC team the intern will: 

  1. Produce the monthly OHC e-newsletter
  2. Participate in selected OHC site visits and planning meetings
  3. Update and maintain information on OHC website
  4. Organize and maintain complex directory of site information
  5. Oversee  the sending, receiving and tracking of agreement forms and insurance waivers
  6. Assist OHC staff with other administrative tasks as necessary

Length:

  • 12 weeks starting in early May (with the possibility of staying until OHC in October)

 

Schedule: 

  • 15-20 hours a week.  Schedule can be flexible Monday – Friday. 

Qualifications

The successful candidate is:

  • Organized, detail-oriented, has strong follow-through skills, and understands the importance of meeting deadlines
  • Comfortable working with external audiences and representing OHC and CAF to the public
  • Interested in community relations and development/operations of public programs
  • Familiar with Google applications and various e-communication tools
  • Experienced in editing and maintaining webpages and/or able to learn new technology quickly
  • Excited to travel to site visits in various communities around the city
  • Interested in architecture, design, history, Chicago and related topics
  • Able to maintain a positive demeanor while communicating with co-workers, volunteers and individuals from other organizations that make OHC possible
