As the 6th largest cultural institution in the City of Chicago, CAF presents a comprehensive program of tours, exhibitions, lectures, special events, and adult and youth education activities, all designed to enhance the public’s awareness and appreciation of Chicago’s outstanding architectural legacy.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Social Media (80%)

  • Closely moderate and post to CAF social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest and others.
  • Develop content and strategies to drive traffic to CAF web properties and contribute to departmental goals such as ticket sales, program registrations, donations, etc.
  • Manage CAF’s social review sites such as Yelp and TripAdvisor, including responding to patrons.
  • Explore other social media platforms as needed (e.g. Snapchat, Flickr, Foursquare, etc.)
  • Support social media strategies across multiple departments.
  • Participate as a key member of CAF’s editorial team.

Marketing (20% of time allocation):

  • Coordinate invoicing of advertisements and other departmental expenses.
  • Write and edit copy for editorial or marketing assets as requested.
  • Work with the marketing team on the development and execution of special marketing projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in journalism, marketing or communications preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of professional writing experience including a range of communications (social media, newsletters, articles, brochures, reports, etc.).
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Should be able to write copy that does not need proofreading. Ability to write with different “voices” for different projects.
  • Superior customer service skills and ability to work well with a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Video and/or photography experience preferred.
