Job Description

CBHS is looking for a counselor that will assume the responsibilities of a school counselor beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year. This position will primarily be working with high school juniors and seniors as they begin the college selection and application process. Additionally, this counselor will provide holistic & proactive services which contribute to each student’s educational, vocational, & personal/social development.

Qualifications

Master's degree in School Counseling is required

Preference will be given to those candidates with extensive experiences in the areas below:

• Working knowledge of college admission procedures • Maintaining and disseminating information about standardized tests such as PSAT, SAT, and ACT, and helping to administer AP and PSAT exams

• Experienced with needs of high school age students & their families

• Engaging interpersonal skills & strong speaking/writing skills

• Innovative, enthusiastic, energetic, flexible

• Effective working with groups

• Thorough knowledge of counseling theory & practice

• Familiar with computer based transcripts, schedules, etc.

• Able to organize & sequence activities

• Collaborative working style & strong work ethic

• Commitment to professional growth

• Commitment to the Lasallian mission and serving all students

Additional Information

College/career/personal/social counseling; advisement with students/parents individually, in small/large groups on all aspects of educational planning, and development/implementation of programs to meet needs of students & parents; collection and reporting of data. This position will also provide support services to students, staff, and parents. Support services include referrals, counseling, assessment, diagnostics, and report writing. Additional responsibilities include student rostering/scheduling, maintaining individual student Education Plans, etc.
