The City of Philadelphia Office of Housing and Community (OHCD) strategically aligns housing and community development resources and programs to support affordable housing for low- and moderate-income Philadelphia residents and to revitalize city neighborhoods.  We accomplish this mission through effective and innovative policy development, direction and implementation.

OHCD manages federal, state and local housing and community development funds through one coordinated general program that enables the City of Philadelphia to meet individual community needs.  Through contracts with nonprofit and other agencies, OHCD supports a range of activities for affordable rental and homeownership opportunities, housing preservation, housing counseling, neighborhood planning and citizen participation, vacant land management and community greening.

Job Description

The City of Philadelphia Office of Housing and Community (OHCD) is the City’s housing policy agency.  It is committed to strategically aligning housing and community development resources and programs through effective and innovative policy development, direction and implementation for the benefit of low- and moderate-income residents.  OHCD is recruiting for a self-motivated, team-oriented and creative professional interested in performing public relations and communications work as a Public Relations Specialist.  The employee in this position will work as part of a team in supporting all communications and public relations needs for approximately 200 housing and community development employees.  Work will include researching, preparing and disseminating a wide variety of public relations and communications materials, planning and executing promotional and ceremonial events and interacting with news media. Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university and two years of full-time professional experience in the public relations/communications field. 

 

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Philadelphia residency is not required at the time of application. Once hired, employees have six months to move into and maintain residency in the City of Philadelphia as a condition of employment.
