The City of Philadelphia Office of Housing and Community (OHCD) strategically aligns housing and community development resources and programs to support affordable housing for low- and moderate-income Philadelphia residents and to revitalize city neighborhoods.  We accomplish this mission through effective and innovative policy development, direction and implementation.

 

OHCD manages federal, state and local housing and community development funds through one coordinated general program that enables the City of Philadelphia to meet individual community needs.  Through contracts with nonprofit and other agencies, OHCD supports a range of activities for affordable rental and homeownership opportunities, housing preservation, housing counseling, neighborhood planning and citizen participation, vacant land management and community greening.

Job Description

The City of Philadelphia Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) is recruiting for an individual interested in housing development work monitoring and coordinating housing programs in assigned neighborhood improvement areas.  An employee in this class functions as a liaison with community groups and promotes citizen review and participation in the implementation and planning of housing programs.  Assignments expand in scope and complexity as the employee gains experience in the work.  Contact with community groups and individuals and housing program administrators to coordinate program activities and resolve problems is a significant aspect of the work.  The employee monitors contracts related to citizen participation as required.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree program and an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience in a housing development or rehabilitation program which has involved the application and/or interpretation of program standards and criteria.
  • Or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience.
