Job Description

  • Plan, organize and direct all the activities of the cost accounting business unit
  • Act as the liaison between the Plant Accountants and Corporate Finance.
  • Review and approve journal entries to general ledger cost accounts
  • Oversee budget and forecasting relating to cost accounting
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs
  • Project management lead to build and manage the implementation of a new standard cost accounting system
  • Prepare reports and presentations illustrating and tracking standard cost variances and metrics
  • Review and improve internal processes such as tracking inter-company purchase orders for procurement and delivery of product and services between business units
  • Perform financial analysis and reporting for capital expenditures including analysis of return on investments (ROI)
  • Participate in cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory counts, analyze shrink results, investigate variances and resolve inventory issues.
  • Assess and adjust surplus and obsolete inventory
  • Update and define policies and procedures for cost      accounting and inventory activities
  • Liaise with the IT department on system issues,      maintenance and system developments to improve the cost accounting      function and timeliness of reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s      degree in Accounting or Finance with an excellent academic record
  • CMA      and/or CPA preferred
  • Strong      working knowledge of Information Systems (MRP, ERP, etc.) with emphasis in      MAPICS or similar. Previous experience with AS400 or similar
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting management in an international manufacturing/distribution organization
