Cost Accounting Manager

Privately held international manufacturing company.
Plan, organize and direct all the activities of the cost accounting business unit
Act as the liaison between the Plant Accountants and Corporate Finance.
Review and approve journal entries to general ledger cost accounts
Oversee budget and forecasting relating to cost accounting
Analyze actual manufacturing costs
Project management lead to build and manage the implementation of a new standard cost accounting system
Prepare reports and presentations illustrating and tracking standard cost variances and metrics
Review and improve internal processes such as tracking inter-company purchase orders for procurement and delivery of product and services between business units
Perform financial analysis and reporting for capital expenditures including analysis of return on investments (ROI)
Participate in cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory counts, analyze shrink results, investigate variances and resolve inventory issues.
Assess and adjust surplus and obsolete inventory
Update and define policies and procedures for cost accounting and inventory activities
Liaise with the IT department on system issues, maintenance and system developments to improve the cost accounting function and timeliness of reporting
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with an excellent academic record
CMA and/or CPA preferred
Strong working knowledge of Information Systems (MRP, ERP, etc.) with emphasis in MAPICS or similar. Previous experience with AS400 or similar
8+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting management in an international manufacturing/distribution organization
