Job Description

Colby Community College is accepting applications for a Part-Time Security Officer. The College is seeking a mature individual with the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations, which will require tact, composure, and firmness. Primary responsibilities include patrolling the campus to maintain a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors, prevent crime, preserve order, maintain the security of college buildings/property and report violations of campus policy. 

Salary:
$12-$15 per hour depending upon education and experience; non-benefits eligible.

Hours/schedule:
Less than 20 hours per week with an irregular schedule working evening/early morning shifts

Start date:
August, 2017

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to work with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff and external groups
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic technology or the willingness to learn

Education:
Associate degree preferred, high school diploma or GED required

Qualifications

  • Criminal justice background and/or previous public safety experience is desirable. 
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required (or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire). 
  • Criminal background check will be conducted.
