Job Description

The Clerical Assistant primarily works in a medical clinic environment and is responsible for providing clerical and administrative assistance to the Nurse Manager. This position will also be the primary clerical back up for the other clinic positions (Medical Records/Unit Secretary) as well as the center's Front Desk Secretary.  Primary duties for the clerical assistant include filing, operating office equipment, answering the phone as needed, handling confidential charts, computer work, and assisting clinic staff as needed.  The person in this position must provide a friendly and professional impression when dealing with the public on the phone or in person. 

Qualifications

Required Education:
 High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:
Experience in clerical support with at least one year secretarial duties.

Required Skills:

        Ability to plan and organize effectively.

        Ability to interact effectively and professionally with participants, families and facility staff.

        Ability to communicate effectively via telephone, verbally and in writing.

        Basic knowledge of medical terminology, computer skills, diagnostic testing.

        Ability to work independently and be self directed.

        Good problem solving skills.

        Must have a compassionate and empathetic attitude for the frail older adults.

        Ability to operate office equipment
