Litigation Support Engineer (Newark Office)

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

  • Design system requirements and application development for the litigation support department using VB, .net, SQL, scripting, etc.
  • Responsible for all McCarter litigation support SQL database and application development systems. 
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining all litigation support web based applications. 
  • Setup Database Maintenance Plans to optimize, re-index and update statistics.
  • Create new databases, plan the location of back up and Transaction log files on disks
  • Project set up, scanning, coding, and OCRing of documents with vendors and other service providers. 
  • Create and support document databases/indexes, transcripts, and images for Concordance, Summation, CaseLogistix, Relativity and Livenote. 
  • Support attorneys and legal personnel in the use of litigation support technology in preparation for cases and trial.

RELATED DUTIES 

  • Serve as the point person in resolving software/hardware issues relating to the installation, upgrade and support of all Litigation support technology. 
  • Manage and maintain all Litigation support software licenses and hardware maintenance agreements. 
  • Utilize Litigation Support tools such as Adobe Professional, IPRO, Escanit, Law. 
  • Data manipulation and formatting of load files, data files for preparation of loading into Litigation support review platforms and document productions. 
  • Provide data validation and quality assurance of load data, extract data and image files from vendors into litigation support software applications and SQL database 
  • Design and implement end user requirements to develop and maintain custom applications in support of Litigation Support services and function. This included QC utilities, batch processing utilities, automation, reporting and data exports in addition to other programming requirements. 
  • Work with 3rd party vendor to manage and maintain all Litigation Support SQL databases and applications. 
  • Configure Database mail, jobs notifications in SQL server 2008. 
  • Deployed Equivio tool or Relativity Analytics to identify near-duplicates and email threads including predictive coding. 
  • Configure report server and SSRS, deploy reports on report server.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 

  • 4-6 years of law firm experience 
  • Vendor experience a plus
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience writing code and database management 
  • Experience with major implementation and upgrades of software


KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Strong communication, organization, and writing skills 
  • Strong knowledge of the litigation process
  • Experienced in the use of litigation support technology 
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft SQL based systems knowledge 
  • Expert knowledge of programming languages like .NET, VB, VB.NET, ASP, C# and SQL scripting
