Information Resources Assistant-Temporary Assignment
Wheeling, West Virginia/ M-F, 9am-6pm/10am-7pm
Reports to: Director of Information Services
Non-exempt
Position Summary and General Purpose:
Performs technical services tasks of the R&I Department, which include maintaining the catalog, ordering materials, updating collection, overseeing processing of books and periodicals, assisting reference staff and attorneys with questions concerning the R&I collection, and handling other matters of a technical nature.
The incumbent is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Firm’s client service standards and core values.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
- Technical service tasks including check-in, creating labels, pockets, and cards for print materials; routing current awareness subscriptions; processing invoice payments, and other tasks as assigned.
- Performs all aspects of inter-library and intra-library loan including completing bibliographic identification; identifying loan sources; maintaining interlibrary loan log; securing materials; and arranging their return.
- Maintains selected catalog records by adding new material, replacing old editions and removing out-of date materials.
- Assists with acquisitions, processing orders, and payments.
- Special projects as needed.
Knowledge, Experience and Education:
- Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective organizational and problem solving skills.
- Computer proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Library experience preferred.

Required vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may frequently be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may frequently be required to lift up to 25 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job, including moderate noise level, an indoor temperate environment, and light levels that are bright and conducive to minimal eye strain, typical for an office environment.
