Learning Generalist-LA
Job Summary
The Learning Generalist, under the direction of the Director of Technology Training, provides instruction on various topics including the firm’s initiatives, software, hardware and best practices via live classroom training, remote training, webinars and individual coaching.
In this capacity, the Learning Generalist will:
• Conduct technology orientation for new hires, task-based skill sessions, upgrade training, rollout training and one-on-one coaching as needed;
• Maintain an understanding of the firm’s business processes and workflow;
• Assist in the preparation of course outlines, training aids, user guides, tips, videos, promotional material and other learning collateral;
• Promote the firm’s learning initiatives and best practices;
• Meet with project stakeholders and team members to determine training requirements and create training project plans. Understand the desired learning results and develop this information into engaging content;
• Represent the user experience by assisting the Desktop team with software evaluation and testing;
• Coordinate scheduling of local and firmwide training events and resources;
• Use the Learning Management System to schedule events, track attendance, solicit feedback and review user requests;
• Resolve, escalate and close Support Center tickets ;
• Participate in weekly team meetings with the Director of Technology Training and monthly train-the-trainer web conferences with the Technology Training and Development Coordinator;
• Stay informed of technology trends; and
• Handle additional related projects as assigned.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who have:
• Bachelor’s Degree required;
• Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification preferred;
• Five or more years of technology training experience in a law firm or professional service environment preferred;
• Expert proficiencies in Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010, Internet Explorer 11 and Adobe Acrobat X Professional or higher;
• Advanced proficiency in MacPac templates and numbering, WorkSite and Carpe Diem;
• Excellent group facilitation skills in both a live and remote classroom setting;
• Ability to adapt content to the target audience or to suit the training delivery method;
• Ability to deliver materials supporting firmwide initiatives from the Business Development, Conflicts, Finance, IT, Knowledge Management and other departments;
• Possess interpersonal and relationship building skills to work effectively with personnel from all levels and locations of the firm;
• Strong organization and analytical skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities, whether working independently or in a team situation;
• Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to write clear and accurate training outlines and documentation;
• Ability to adapt quickly to new applications and technologies;
• Ability to assess a person’s skill level;
• Ability to work overtime when required and with flexibility to conduct evening or early morning classes; and
• Ability to travel if needed
