SharePoint Administrator
Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Job Summary
The SharePoint Administrator will be a member of a team of application development and support staff, including client/server developers, web developers and DBAs.
The candidate will be responsible for the planning, designing, installing, configuring and maintaining the SharePoint 2010 and 2013 platforms. S/he will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and support for SP-based application sites, Intranet and Extranet sites. This position is to be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the SharePoint infrastructure and will train other team members as necessary in SharePoint services, administration, and maintenance. This person will work closely with the network ops and enterprise messaging teams to develop a strategy for optimal use and integration of SharePoint and other collaborative tools within the firm.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in SharePoint 2007/2013 (Expert Level). MS SP Admin certification a plus.
- Proficiency in SharePoint and Windows operating system administration (Windows Server 2003/2008).
- Strong knowledge of Windows architecture, deployment considerations, and structured development methodology.
- Strong Server Administration Skills – (IIS, DNS, AD, SSL, Kerberos, SQL 2005/2008). VMWare Experience a plus.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing and routed protocols.
- Experience with FAST ESP Search Engine Administration and Optimization.
- Experience with SQL Query Development as it relates to SharePoint databases. DBA experience a plus.
- Knowledge of C#, VB.NET, ADO.NET, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, AJAX, and XML a plus.
- Experience with Business Intelligence using MOSS, SSRS, SSAS, and Excel Services. Experience with Performance Point Server a plus.
- Development of custom web parts a plus.
- Experience with SharePoint Workflow and integration with Infopath and K2.
- Solid knowledge of industry security standards.
Requirements Gathering & Analysis
- Works closely with our internal teams and the Business Intelligence and GPS groups to analyze, define, and document technical requirements for SharePoint based implementations.
- Analyzes existing systems and programs and develops or recommends new systems or modifications to existing systems.
Site Administration, Maintenance & Support
- Lead SharePoint infrastructure implementation and maintenance; collaborate with SharePoint design and development teams.
- Install, configure and/or maintain SP 2010/2013 platforms on across five server farms spanning the Internal (Intranet) zone; and potentially two additional zones spanning External (Extranet), and Internet (public site) zones.
- Install, maintain, and support various systems with an emphasis on the membership Extranet and related components (i.e., SharePoint Portal, SQL server, e-mail/SMTP, system backups, IIS, Active Directory, DNS, VMWare, MS Hyper-V, etc.).
- Maintain all farm administration functions across these farms through Central Administration
- Assist and train in-house resource in SharePoint Administration including work instructions and best practices documentation.
- Ongoing SharePoint Operations.
- Manage Firm Topology.
Change Management
- Ensures that migration from development and test environments into production are done per the Firm’s Change Acceptance Board (CAB) process.
Education/Experience
Education
- MS degree or BS degree in a computer related field or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Technical Knowledge
- Essential current technology skills desired include: SharePoint administration, Windows OS (IIS, DNS, AD, SSL, Kerberos, SQL 2005/2008), programming experience in ASP.NET, Web Services, VB6, SQL Server, SSRS a plus.
- Planning, Project Management and Organizational Skills: While this is primarily a technical position, the candidate must have strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to globally manage expectations from multiple stakeholders across the firm and communicate schedules, tasks and deadline is a must. Ability to delegate responsibilities, track and manage tasks is key to success. Must exhibit grace under pressure.
Communication Skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of lawyers, management, staff and vendors. Requires diplomacy, facilitation skills and the ability to manage conflict.
Judgment and Reasoning
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving ability is required. Must grasp business process, priorities and goals and be able to translate into development initiatives. Must understand basic business relationship and confidentiality principles and adhere to those principles.
