Job Description
Premier, global, law, firm is seeking a Senior Network Operations Engineer to be located in any of its East Coast offices. The Senior Network Operations Engineer will install, maintain, monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot data center infrastructure equipment and software in support of data center operations. The Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert supporting production and disaster recovery/business continuation (DR/BC) operations environments including multiple physical and virtual servers; networking and VLANs; data storage performance and provisioning; data replication and backup; private, hybrid, and public “cloud” technologies and related systems and activities. This position will also monitor, measure and manage key performance on network links including bandwidth, throughput and latencies against internal and service provider SLAs. Additionally, the Engineer will execute DR/BC procedures and monitor and enforce security according to standards developed by the InfoSec team. Responsible for executing systems upgrades, routine or other patching as needed and approved in Change Control, and contributing to design changes, DR/BC planning and architecture. Works throughout the systems lifecycle including design, test, stage, install, production, upgrade and retirement of system components.
Qualifications
This position requires 5+ years’ experience in a professional services firm in a technical role. Candidates must have 2+ years’ experience with VDI, server and storage virtualization configurations, design and operations and possess a high familiarity with the installation, configuration and operation of network equipment such as servers and storage devices, switches, routers, wireless access points, hubs/concentrators, VPN and dial-in servers, gateways and firewalls, also of a variety of makes/models and operating systems. Also required is a comprehensive knowledge of firewalls, DMZ, VLAN and segregation and management of LAN/WAN/Internet network traffic using TCP/IP and other network protocols. The ideal candidate will have recent experience and/or certifications in the following areas: network infrastructure; Syslog and SNMP-based monitoring systems; storage systems SAN and NAS; server hardware platforms; IP routing, QoS/CoS; virtual computing, hypervisor types and differences, efficient provisioning of physical resources in a virtual environment; co-location benefits and limitations in relation to IaaS hosting (Public, Hybrid, and Private) and SaaS benefits and limitations; power and cooling requirements and kW draw based on compute density and datacenter layout. A college degree is preferred, preferably in engineering or a computer related field. Also preferred is a CISSP security certification and prior law firm experience.
