Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter/Mason Worker to join our team at the beautiful Constance Lemuria resort in Seychelles. In this role, you will be responsible for executing various carpentry and masonry projects, contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of our world-class facilities.
- Perform a wide range of carpentry tasks, including framing, finishing, and custom woodworking
- Execute masonry work, such as bricklaying, stonework, and concrete installations
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans to ensure accurate project execution
- Utilize hand and power tools efficiently and safely
- Adhere to building codes and safety regulations throughout all projects
- Adapt construction techniques to suit the tropical climate of Seychelles
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to complete projects on time and to specification
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on existing structures
- Estimate material quantities and costs for projects as needed
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in both carpentry and masonry work
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry and masonry preferred
- Proven skills in woodworking, framing, finishing, bricklaying, stonework, and concrete work
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans accurately
- Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools
- In-depth knowledge of building codes and safety regulations
- OSHA safety certification preferred
- Strong understanding of construction materials and techniques
- Knowledge of tropical climate construction considerations
- Detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on quality and precision
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to challenges on the job
- Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Willingness to work in Seychelles and adapt to local building practices
