Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity 

This role would suit an enthusiastic and self-motivated person. You’ll conduct maintenance of process control and instrumentation systems to ensure safety at the workplace and maintain plant availability to meet business requirements. 

Let us paint a picture of some of the work you will be responsible for: 

  • Deliver HSE Performance, maintain knowledge of and comply with all industry safety rules, codes of practice and regulations and ensure that safe working and occupational health principles and practices are known and observed, and that all safety rules and procedures are complied with by Contact and other personnel working on site 

  • Take corrective action for all situations in which health and safety of the staff, plant equipment or the environment are at risk 

  • Develop and administer operational databases 

  • Monitor operational systems condition, identify and report on failures, undertake preventive measures, and rectify problems where required 

  • Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies.  In particular, develop maintenance strategies and performance standard for critical operational systems and monitor systems performance against those standard 

  • Execute maintenance work and supervise contractors according to Contact’s policies developing comprehensive work criteria for contracted work 

  • Improve maintenance practices through maintenance standards 

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the plant systems, update documents, and report on all information related to tests and plant records 

  • Maintain up to date knowledge and skills of Quality Management System requirements. 

  • Preserve plant electrical, control and instrumentation devices, machine protection systems, plant alarm, indication systems, and statistical metering equipment 

Qualifications

You will be a natural influencer, be famous for your communication style and ability to take people on a journey and an agent for change; making sure we are always improving on what we do. Like any opportunity, there are some key attributes that we would like to add to our bench strength.  

You will have plenty of examples to tell us about: 

  • Control system maintenance and optimisation 

  • Maintenance of field devices, protection systems and electrical, and C&I plant and equipment 

  • Skilled in developing and maintaining test equipment hardware and software 

  • Ability to detail work scope specifications 

  • Experience in supervising contracts and contractors 

  • Integrity and high personal and professional standards 

  • Ability to identifying and recommending cost effective solutions 

  • Ability to resolve issues and problems 

  • Able to develop tools that allow problems to be solved on an ongoing and long term basis 

  • Relevant experience in condition monitoring strategies 

We’d expect that you’d have a relevant National Diploma/NZCE, Trade Certificate, or equivalent qualification and someone of your calibre would naturally have the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including strengths in influencing, conflict management, and negotiation
