Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity 

You’ll provide engineering excellence that ensures safe and optimum performance of our assets, while providing a pivotal connection between the Asset, Operations and Engineering Teams. You will champion asset safety, reliability and potential performance improvements are realised through effective engineering advice and support. 
The sort of things you’ll get involved in include: 

  • Providing sound, appropriate engineering advice to support engineering functions within the Geothermal Generation group
  • Responsible for delivering a wide range of projects to enhance our current and future generation portfolio   
  • Being a focal point for engineering activities within the Geothermal Generation group and ensuring ongoing development and implementation of the long-term asset management plan initiatives
  • Troubleshooting, understanding plant performance and support solutions that maintain optimum performance and reliability in the long-term
  • Provide support to the investigation of plant issues, events and defects including root cause analysis to establish most probable causes and recommendations to avoid reoccurrence
  • Provide sound engineering expertise supporting the long-term view of current and new potential generation opportunities

Qualifications

There’s no doubting that you’re a technical expert, but you’ve also got the ability to engage people and communicate in a way that ensures you’ve got the attention of who you need to. Like any opportunity, there are some key attributes that we would like to add to our bench strength.  
You’ll be able to show us that you have: 

  • 10+ years in the heavy industrial sector 
  • Power plant operation and maintenance experience 
  • An excellent knowledge and understanding of all aspects of modern mechanical, instrumentation, control or electrical system technology particularly in relation to power plant systems 
  • An excellent knowledge of condition monitoring principals and NDT inspection methods 
  • Demonstrable contract and project management experience  
  • Understanding of electricity generation and the national grid  
  • Sound understanding of engineering design principals 
  • Sound knowledge of heavy rotating equipment principals and pressure equipment management  
  • Relevant Degree in Engineering, National Diploma/NZCE, or equivalent  
  • Appropriate professional registration and accreditation would be desirable
