Our Reservoir Operations and Asset team is looking for a new Geothermal Monitoring Technician where you'll support the Geothermal Generation team by collecting and analysing field measurements and chemistry samples to optimise geothermal fields and ensure compliance with consent requirements.
Job Description
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Geothermal Monitoring Technician, you'll be at the heart of our subsurface team, working alongside a talented group of technical experts. Your days will be spent in the field, collecting vital measurements and chemistry samples, and in the lab, analysing this data to help us optimise our geothermal fields and meet our consent requirements. Reporting to our Geothermal Monitoring Supervisor (a true wahine toa), you'll be part of a world-class multidisciplinary sub-surface team, dedicated to maintaining our license to operate and caring for our sub-surface assets.
In this role, your strong interpersonal and relationship management skills will shine as you interact with various Contact teams, including Reservoir, Steamfield, Operations, Project, and Engineering teams. You'll also engage with external stakeholders such as contractors, neighbours, and landowners. Your responsibilities will range from managing physical well and geothermal field measurements to supporting environmental compliance and maintaining data logging systems. A large part of this job is based outside so it’s important you like being in the outdoors and are physically fit.
This role is multifaceted and interacts with a bunch of different stakeholders, inside and outside the organisation. Internally you’ll work with our Reservoir, Steamfield, Operations, Project and Engineering teams whilst external stakeholders may include contractors, neighbours and landowners. We’re looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and relationship management skills and prides themselves in building successful connections.
Your strong communications skills, ability to deal with ambiguity and take ownership of your work will ensure you are a good fit for our team environment. We’ll also appreciate the integrity and professional work ethic you will bring to the team.
Your ability to bring your mix of field, laboratory and commercial skills along with high regard to safe working practices to ensure the safe and reliable operation of Contact’s Geothermal Assets will see you in good stead.
If you have experience in trades, chemistry, plant maintenance, environmental sampling, data logging and lab work, we want to hear from you. Any energy, electricity or utilities industry knowledge, and we’d be even more impressed.
