Ko wai mātou | About us

At Contact, we’re powered by a deep sense of purpose: to build a better Aotearoa by leading the decarbonisation of our energy system. We’re one of New Zealand’s largest energy generators and retailers, and we’re proud to be deeply rooted in the whenua and communities we serve. Our people are passionate about creating a cleaner, more sustainable future, and we’re investing heavily in renewable energy to make that vision a reality.

Right now, we’re embarking on one of our most exciting journeys yet — the development of Te Mihi 2A, a major geothermal project near Taupō. This project is part of a broader pipeline of renewable developments that will help power Aotearoa with clean, reliable energy for generations to come. I

We’re now on the hunt for a Commissioning Manager to lead the charge on the commissioning of our Te Mihi 2A geothermal power station. I

Job Description

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

This is a pivotal role where you’ll take the reins on everything from pre-commissioning through to start-up.  Reporting to the Project Director, you’ll be the glue that brings together our project team, contractors, and operations whānau ensuring everything runs smoothly, safely, and to plan.

You’ll be crafting and executing detailed commissioning strategies, managing risk, and ensuring quality every step of the way. From energising systems to leading daily stand-ups and reporting to senior leadership, you’ll be at the heart of a project that’s shaping the future of renewable energy in Aotearoa. Qualifications

Ko wai koe | About you

You’re someone who brings both technical depth and people smarts to the table. Ideally, you’ve got 15+ years of project site experience under your belt, including hands-on commissioning work — and if you’ve worked with geothermal systems, even better. You know your way around mechanical, electrical, and I&C systems, and you’re confident leading commissioning activities from planning through to execution.

But more than your CV, we’re looking for someone who’s calm under pressure, collaborative by nature, and thrives in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. You’re a clear communicator, a natural organiser, and someone who can bring people together to get things done. If you’ve got a knack for thinking outside the box, a strong safety mindset, and a passion for renewable energy, we’d love to kōrero. Even if you don’t tick every box, if this role excites you — apply anyway. We’re keen to hear from people who bring fresh perspectives and a willingness to grow.
