Job Description

The Social Specialist will help to increase awareness, build a great community, and drive engagment amongst our growing fanbase of DIY consumers who enjoy the feeling of “I made it!” they get from using our products. The Social Specialist is skilled in writing and understands how to engage communities on behalf of a brand. The Social Specialist works with the team to create the day-to-day social communications for Cricut.

The Social Specialist will have opportunities each and every day to directly impact the Cricut brand and consumers interact with us by working with the team to create social programs, creating content and messaging being communicated via Social Media Networks, as well as reporting on each program’s success.

We know we are really lucky to call the activities we participate in “work” but that doesn’t mean that we don’t work hard. Each of our responsibilities greatly impacts our company’s goals and because of that, everything that we do has high visibility to senior management. We give a voice to the brand.

  • You will report to the Director of Product, Channel, and Social Marketing
  • You will be a consumer fanatic. We are big fans of our fans, every action we perform is to assist a potential consumer in eventually becoming a Cricut owner
  • You will regularly monitor our relevant social networks, and be expected to know what is happening when it happens
  • You will greatly assist with logistical and administrative items, so organization is a necessity 
  • Your day-to-day activities will always keep you learning about a communities’ mindset 

Responsibilities:

  • Social marketing campaign, community, and editorial strategy
  • Social product launch strategy, planning and launch activity management
  • Project management; own day-to-day operations for editorial and community communications
  • Data reporting across campaign, community, and editorial activations
  • Make content recommendations based on in-market trends and campaign performance
  • Proofread all communications and ensure information accuracy
  • Maintain brand guidelines and copy standards
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Deliver grammatically clean and effective copy
  • Self-edit and review/edit copy written by others
  • Partner with marketing team to provide promotions and activities to engage and excite the community for both our retail channels and Cricut.com 
  • Monitor online conversations about the brand and engage when appropriate
  • Provide feedback on ways to improve the community experience
  • Stay on top of social media trends and innovations
  • Own social media network calendar of content, schedule and strategy 
  • Manage all details for online, and offline contests and events
  • Maintain and publish content calendar for online posting, keeping everyone internally aware
  • Assist the social partnerships manager with identifying upcoming potential partnerships with bloggers and crafting communities

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in online community development, editorial, communications, customer support or social marketing
  • Skilled writer / communicator
  • Have strong communication and relationship building skills to get to know bloggers and other key community members you will be in touch with frequently
  • Skills and familiarity with Photoshop, Excel, Google Docs and a photographic eye incredibly beneficial
  • Experience participating in and/or moderating community discussions
  • Superb organizational skills and ability to maintain several deliverables at once under changing and tight deadlines
  • Team player who can play a leadership role on cross-functional teams
  • Experience with developing sound business recommendations and gaining stakeholder buy-in
  • Have a good working knowledge of bloggers, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and emerging social media channels
  • Decision-making experiences demonstrating appropriate balance between thoughtful research and the need for timeliness
  • Self-motivated, and ability to work independently
  • Strong desire to learn and grow the brand
  • Have a passion for handmade and lifestyle crafts
  • A great sense of humor and pleasing working mentality
