Under direct supervision of the Manager of Pharmaceutical Services, this position assists the pharmacists in dispensing medications and maintaining appropriate patient records and charges. The needs of patients served by the Pharmacy Technician includes skilled nursing, psychiatry, substance abuse and rehabilitation.


Prepares medication for patients according to prescribed policies and procedures; assists pharmacist in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services. Accurately and efficiently maintains computerized records of pharmaceuticals prepared and dispensed; assures complete patient billing and documentation in patient record. Responsible for prompt, correct delivery of pharmaceutical products to nursing units and patients. Monitors and maintains pharmacy inventory, including floorstock and outdates; issues pharmaceutical supplies to hospital departments following departmental procedure including narcotic documentation and PYXIS medstation management. This position adheres to and is responsible for the safety standards including the completion of the mandatory organizational safety standards on an annual basis. Ability to Concentrate and Pay Close Attention to Detail. Ability to Walk/Stand for Majority of Work Time. Lift, Push/Pull Weights up to 20 lbs. 1 – 2 years experience or equivalent.
