My client is a leader in the mining sector with a global footprint seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist with mining equipment experience as a Technical Buyer based in Germiston, the incumbent will report to the Procurement Manager with dotted line to Director Global Strategic Sourcing.

• Perform industry research to identify qualified supplier candidates to meet the company needs
• Develop and implement the sourcing strategies through analysis of global markets, raw material trends, technology , value chain analysis and long term sourcing plans
• Develop sourcing strategies through close working relationship with engineering team to support new product development within given region
• Develop a strategy for the company growth into Africa to support the Surface Mining operations in various African countries in collaboration with SQA
• Drive continuous improvement cost reductions through the life of the supplier contracts
• Interface between Africa Branch and the Category Managers to ensure that Global strategies are understood, supported and implemented in Africa
• Ensure delivery against savings targets at required quality levels
• Implement and maintain a proper tender and First Articles process as well as the company Tender policy.
  

• Supply Chain Management or Engineering qualification is essential
• 5 years experience working in a Procurement environment as a Technical Buyer in Mining Equipment
• 3-5 years experience working in a similar position is required
• Sound knowledge and experience in the principles of purchasing , Accounting , Material Management and Supplier Quality Assurance
• Must have proven experience on dealing with tenders
• Computer literate, especially proficient in excel
• Valid driver’s license and own transport.
