Job Description


The cool stuff you’ll do:


DataStax is looking for a senior technical writer who wants to be part of the hot big data space. This key position will be focused on creating and maintaining documentation for all things that are developer-related within DataStax, as well as owning all documentation concerning our management tool solutions. Specifically, the emphasis will be on the following:

  • Help today’s modern, big data developers by creating and maintaining a Developer’s Guide that assists     developers, across all major development languages (e.g. Java, .NET, Python, etc.) in creating big data applications with Apache Cassandra, Hadoop, and Solr
  • Building documentation for DataStax-provided client drivers and libraries
  • Writing developer how-to articles and tutorials that jump start developer’s efforts in writing new      applications
  • Building and maintaining documentation for DataStax OpsCenter, a web-based, visual management and monitoring solution for DataStax’s big data platform, DataStax Enterprise



The stuff you’ll need to succeed:


  • Seasoned technical writing background and able to provide samples of prior work
  • Background either directly or indirectly with developer technologies and top languages (e.g. Java, PHP, .NET, Ruby, Python, etc.)
  • Experience in database technology preferred (RDBMS’s, etc.), with any exposure to NoSQL or other big data technologies being ideal
  • Proven ability to write in a tutorial, step-by-step fashion that guides new users through unfamiliar technologies
  • Ability to work either in an office setting or remotely and deliver objectives and materials on target dates
  • Thrives in fast-paced, startup environment
