Job Description

The cool stuff you’ll do:


DataStax is looking for a Curriculum Developer to join its growing training team.  Working in a Scrum Development environment, you will develop new and update existing course content for our in-person Cassandra Certification and other DataStax solutions courses.  The curriculum you develop will be used worldwide by DataStax instructors and partners. You will work closely with engineers, partners and developers to make sure our course material is accurate, up to date and relevant.


  • Structure and design a series of courses geared for a very technical audience
  • Develop courses that will be part of a credentialing program
  • Create a sequence of learning objectives for each course lesson
  • Write detailed lesson plans for in-person lessons to achieve student learning obectives
  • Work with engineers and other subject matter experts to develop learning objectives and lesson plans
  • Develop assessments including programming assignments, quizzes and exams


The stuff you’ll need to succeed:


  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of software curriculum development experience
  • Ability to create highly technical training materials for software developers and administrators
  • Ability to interview subject matter experts, understand processes and convert technical content into training materials that effectively accomplishes learning objectives
  • Develop, review, and revise learning objectives, course outlines, participant materials, facilitator materials  and feedback mechanisms
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, specifically an ability to engage an audience on training topics to solidify adoption of products
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Apache Cassandra, Hadoop or Solr a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
