Job Description

Development Coordinator, Community Giving

Compensation:

$41,237 annually

Description: 

The Development Coordinator, Community Giving plays an integral role in the success of the David Suzuki Foundation’s fundraising and donor stewardship programs. This position primarily focuses on donor service and plays a critical role in donor satisfaction and retention.

Responsibilities:

Donation processing and donor stewardship

· Responds to donor inquiries regarding donations, tax receipts, address changes and other requests by phone, email and mail

· Responsible for special gift fulfillment and follow-up (e.g. tribute donations)

· Supports individuals and small companies with their fundraising initiatives (third party fundraisers)

· Opens and sorts incoming donations mail and prepares bank deposits in collaboration with Finance team

· Enters donor and gift information into donor database(s) including capturing contact information and communication preferences

· Returns invalid cheques and/or credit card donations to donors

· Implements ongoing changes to monthly donor records including updating payment methods, implementing upgrades, downgrades and processing cancellations

· Processes single gift credit card batches

· Implements updates to automated donor responses

· Issues official and duplicate tax receipts

· Identifies trends in donor interactions and relays information and donor feedback to the Development team

· Conducts testing of online donation forms and provides recommendations for improvements

· Contributes to Community Giving plans and strategies

· Supports other Community Giving Coordinators and volunteers on various tasks, as necessary

Qualifications

· University/college degree or relevant work experience

· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational skills

· Excellent communications skills, written and verbal

· Strong customer service attitude and commitment

· Thrives in a busy, fast paced environment

· Goal oriented and able to meet tight deadlines

· Outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work within a team dynamic

· Highly proficient in Outlook, Excel and Word with strong data management skills

· Working experience in a non-profit organization, proficiency in Raiser’s Edge and fluency in French are considered strong assets
