WHAT’S THE JOB?

Reporting to the Camp/Lodge and Facilities Manager, the Storekeeper/Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for the effective management of all materials and inventory across on-site and off-site locations. This includes receiving, storing, tracking, and controlling supplies related to food, beverages, chemicals, maintenance, janitorial, housekeeping, and commissary services.

 

This position is ideally suited for individuals with a background in hospitality or food and beverage, especially those with experience in cost control, inventory management, and supply chain coordination in hotels, camps, or remote operations. The Storekeeper plays a crucial role in supporting day-to-day operations in a remote Arctic mining environment, ensuring efficiency, cost awareness, and service excellence. This position requires fly-in/fly-out travel from Edmonton, Alberta or Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, to the project site in Nunavut, with potential for weather-related delays or logistical challenges.

The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a Nunavut camp setting with the following working conditions and amenities:

  • All meals and shared accommodations are provided 
  • Travel is provided to and from the site locations from a designated hub location in Edmonton, AB
  • Access to Wi-Fi 
  • Access to laundry facilities and detergents 
  • Access to a gym and common areas 
  • Requires the operation of pallet jacks and the movement of heavy inventory safely using manual and mechanical jacks. 
  • Manual movement of food and other product for the majority of a 12 hour shift in outdoor conditions in all weather conditions.
  • Extended periods away from home; rotational schedule required.
  • Must comply with all safety and sanitation standards established by the client and company.

Your work will include:

  • Lead a team of 4 – 6 personnel in the receiving of approx. 30 pallets twice a week as well as during daily stock distribution and inventory control counts and tasks.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels and records of inventory (including food, supplies, consumables, chemicals, and MRO—maintenance, repair, and operations) using both warehouse/inventory software and manual tracking methods.
  • Monitor for all camp departments, including catering, janitorial, maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) protocols to reduce spoilage and ensure stock freshness. Conduct routine stock counts and prepare detailed reports on inventory usage, variances, and trends to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Supervise expiration dates and coordinate the timely usage of perishable goods. Receive, document, and organize all shipments in accordance with safety and storage standards.
  • Assist with daily stock movements between outdoor sea-cans, warehouses, and various camp locations including during inclement weather conditions. Ensure accurate and timely record keeping of all stock movement.  
  • Prepare consumption and cost analysis reports for food, beverages, water, and maintenance items.
  • Apply best practices in F&B cost control to ensure minimal waste and optimized pricing strategies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces; promptly report hazards or incidents.
  • Support and collaborate with hospitality operations, including kitchen and service teams, to ensure seamless service and supply flow across departments. Help coordinate the movement of products between sea containers, site transfers, and warehouses.

  • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
  • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Three (3) years’ experience as a storekeeper or in a similar role, preferably in the mining or Hospitality industry;
  • Must have perishable food stocking awareness understanding and knowledge;
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and recent driver’s abstract will be required prior to position commencement;
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is an asset;
  • You have an ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision, and as a team player;
  • Knowledge and experience working with inventory management software including POS equipment and Microsoft Office Suite; and
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.

Work schedule and remuneration:

Inventory Control Clerks work on a rotational schedule of 4 weeks on/2 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis and include a starting rate of $25.00.
