Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Risk Analyst will be to support the Portfolio securitization and the required daily and monthly reporting that is needed to ensure that all covenants & triggers are compliant. The Risk Analyst will analyze, monitor and report out the performance of all loans in the facility and recommend any policy or structural changes needed to ensure compliance with the established covenants.

The secondary responsibility of the Risk Analyst will be to assist the Credit Risk Team in the development of MIS reports and underwriting strategies. Additionally, the Risk Analyst may take on additional ad-hoc projects to support corporate, global and cross-functional risk initiatives. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

Line of Business Support 

 Support the portfolio securitization and asset quality performance

 Support the development of credit risk products and MIS reports. 

 Monitor, develop and execute new credit risk strategies to mitigate losses and grow revenue

 Partner with the Business to support ongoing marketing initiatives ( Easy Tax, Check Cashing, List Management, etc.).

 Coordinate activities in collections to track and report trends and behaviors. 

 Build strong relationships with Treasury, Information Technology, and Investor Relations with the support of quantitative facts. 

Risk and Analytics 

 Analyze concentrations, product mix, delinquency and loss trending, product optimization, line utilization, originations, etc. 

 Development of risk-based pricing models, loan loss models involving logistic regression and other statistical techniques utilizing SAS. 

 Support ALL model design and explanation of model outcome over time. 

 Provide marketing analytics for various channels and products

 Provide statistical support for Consumer Underwriting practices and Key Risk Indicators. 

 Identify and implement opportunities for greater efficiencies, risk controls, and profitability for the respective portfolios.

General Responsibilities 

 Ensure the profitable growth of the Installment loan book in Canada and US.

 Manage existing single payment loan portfolios.

 Leverage analytical capabilities in overall decision making and risk identification. 

 Support ad-hoc Line of Business requests for quantitative modeling of potential new business. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s Degree required. Master Degree or a PhD is a plus.

EXPERIENCE 

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in quantitative environment using analytics to drive credit policy, marketing or strategic changes and managing a portfolio. Experience with statistical modeling is a plus. Experience in a cross-functional environment working with operations, marketing, and finance to drive and lead strategic change that impact the bottom line is essential.

SKILLS

• Strong organizational, communication and project management skills required. Proficient with SAS, SQL or some other relational database software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PROBLEM-SOLVING  

• Incumbent should be able to independently analyze the performance of each consumer loan portfolio in charge and make recommendations / put control measure in place. 

• Incumbent should be able to forecast loan loss or revenue growth and provide strategic advice to management.

• The incumbent must have the ability to analyze the competitor landscape

• Must be able to effectively diagnose and solve problems

• Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks quickly
