Job Description

Research or develop geospatial technologies. May produce databases, perform applications programming, or coordinate projects. May specialize in areas such as agriculture, mining, health care, retail trade, urban planning, or military intelligence.

Qualifications

Required Technical Qualifications:

Proficiency using ArcGIS Desktop • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel • Understanding of the principles and practices of GIS analysis • Knowledge of methods and techniques for utilizing GIS databases • Familiarity with cartographic practices Preferred Technical Qualifications: • Familiarity with transforming various types of data into georeferenced layers in ArcGIS (e.g., raster data, CAD files) • Skilled with creating and updating metadata in ArcCatalog • Familiarity with Oracle 11g or other RDBMS • Understanding with writing basic queries using SQL Responsibilities: • Generate and maintain geodatabase layers, associated attribute information, and metadata • Perform basic mapping and data analysis tasks • Conduct research and analyze/rationalize data from multiple sources • Create and update team process documentation • Create status reports for management purposes • Adhere to quality procedures defined in the company’s Quality Management System, which is consistent with ISO 9001:2008 standards and company goals • Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience Bachelor's degree

 Knowledge

 Geography Knowledge of principles and methods for describing the features of land, sea, and air masses, including their physical characteristics, locations, interrelationships, and distribution of plant, animal, and human life. Engineering and Technology Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Design Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
