As the official language services provider for both the Beijing and Sochi Olympic Games, EF uses cutting edge technology to create a fundamentally better way of learning English.  EF’s online teaching internship program is looking for ambitious college juniors, seniors and graduate students in the Boston metro area who are passionate about our mission of breaking down barriers worldwide.  Interns are provided with innovative, conversational lesson plans and teach online classes with a flexible schedule at any location of their choosing.  Our small English classes are composed of adult learners from over 120 countries and take place twenty four hours a day.  Peak hours are evenings and weekends.

Interns participate in an EF teacher training and are required to complete an online TEFL class within two months of their start date, the costs of which are eligible for reimbursement.  Periodic trainings and networking sessions in our Boston headquarters provide interns with unique insight into the international education industry and the opportunity to network with current EF employees and senior managers.  This is a paid internship and could be a great “foot in the door” position for students interested in a full time position in one of our academic, tours or cultural exchange divisions after graduation.

Requirements:

  • Reside in the Greater Boston Metro Area.
  • Native English speaker. Bilingual Portuguese or Russian skills are a plus!
  • College juniors, senior or graduate student in any field; international experience preferred.
  • Experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring or demonstrated leadership skills.
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate is a plus, but not immediately required.
  • Excellent cultural awareness, communication and motivational skills, as well as a commitment to delivering a high level of customer service and support.
  • Access to a personal computer, headset and solid internet connection.
  • Availability to teach at least ten hours per week and attend periodic meetings in our Boston. headquarters.  We are looking for candidates who would are able to commit at least eight months to this project in order to get a full internship experience.

Compensation:

$10 to $12 per lesson; this is an independent contractor position.
