Job Description

The Edwardsville YMCA is looking for an experienced, organized, creative and self-driven program director with a passion for summer camp! Our very successful  summer camp program is designed with a day camp structure that provides a summer full of fun memories for school age children ages 5 to 13 from the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon area and surrounding communities. Our average daily attendance is 500 campers per day. This is an amazing opportunity for individuals with leadership, managerial and inter-cultural communication experience! This position requires problem solving, leadership, public relations, customer service, imagination and a lot of enthusiasm. Candidates must have strong leadership skills and exceptional communication ability in order to manage and support his/her team. Must have a flexible schedule to work a 40 hour week during the hours of 6am-6pm, Monday-Friday, while summer camp is in session, from May 20 through mid-August. Will work part-time prior to camp starting for planning and staffing needs.

Qualifications

1.Pursuing or completed Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university, preferably in education, child development, or recreation related discipline or equivalent experience.

2.Minimum 3-5 years experience in supervising camp programs and staff or equivalent experience.

3.Basic programming skills including related enrichment activities in one of the following fields: health & wellness, youth/adult sports, or school age programming.

4.Ability to plan multiple programs while leading and directing staff to execute multiple programs and activities.

5.Excellent writing, communication and computer skills.

6.Must possess a sensitive and enthusiastic ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse group of employees, volunteers, children and parents.

7.Articulate effectively with all employees, members and participants.

8.Proven success in supervising and developing staff of all ages.

9.Experience working with kids ages 5-13.

10.First Aid and CPR certifications.

11.Must pass criminal background check
