Job Description

Performs organizational level (launch and recovery, or line) and intermediate level (scheduled phase, or hangar) maintenance on UC-35 aircraft.  The Mech 1 will work under the mentorship and guidance of the Site Lead Mechanic in such operations as disassembly, assembling, troubleshooting, checking, repairing, replacing, testing, adjusting, installing, servicing, fabricating and other operations required to maintain the airworthiness of aircraft and all their components while in service or while undergoing overhaul and/or modification. Repairs are performed using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, and drill press and aircraft specific test equipment. Under limited oversight, reads and interprets, manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged systems or components.

Aircraft Mechanic - Major work tasks / responsibilities

  • Comply with written Customer, Company, and FAA mandated maintenance and logistics procedures and policies.
  • Comply with aircraft records procedures outlined in DA PAM 738-751.
  • Ensure aircraft discrepancies are properly recorded in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and within the terms of the contract as directed by the Program Management Office (PMO).
  • Gain familiarity and working knowledge of resident enterprise resource planning, maintenance information systems, and reporting software.
  • Basic knowledge and familiarization in reading wiring and system and electrical diagrams for troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Travel as required and submit expenses in a timely manner via the company approved expense reporting system.
  • Assist with aircraft recovery missions as necessary.
  • Deploy to overseas locations on military orders to support contract requirements.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and Holidays IAW CBA in support of contract requirements.
  • Required to provide own hand tools and tool box. Tool box and tools to be marked, shadowed and inventoried IAW AR 95.20 GOP
  • Must be able to report to assigned facility on a daily basis and demonstrate reliability, good communications skills, high-quality workmanship, and sound judgment.
  • At sites where on-site GSE personnel are not provided by the government, inspect and certify aircraft ground support equipment at specific intervals as required by ESA, Government, and the FAA.
  • At sites where on-site GSE personnel are not provided by the government, ensure that the site assigned company and government owned/operated/possessed ground support equipment are maintained.
  • Perform ground support equipment duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the site Lead/Supervision.

 

Qualifications

Education: 

  • High School Graduate or General Equivalency Degree required

Experience: 

  • Two years of flight line, hangar or corporate operator Cessna Citation V, Ultra or Encore experience preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. Must be able to work at heights 25 feet above the ground. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold.
  • Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dust. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, balance, push, pull, kneel, grasp, crouch, crawl, work in narrow aisles/passageways, and work in close spaces that restrict movement for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as picking, pinching, typing. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Must be able to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able and willing to enter, and work, in confined spaces, such as aircraft equipment bays or cargo areas, with clearances of 18” – 24”.
  • Must have the ability to travel as needed to support programs at other locations.
