The Role & Tech Stack

Do you live in a world of abstracts, relational tables or RESTful APIs? Would you love to design our API and be the star PM that all the developers love? We need FOODies who can understand what FOODit’s short, mid and long term visions are, and turn them into useful APIs. The APIs you will create are easy and readily available for other teams to build out their own frontend & Apps from without the shackles of an API playing hard to get.

We need someone who wants to live and breathe APIs, who would rather work on the business than argue to the ends of the earth about whether an API is truly RESTful (because this is not useful).

A day in the life of the FOODit API PM will consist of working closely both with the CEO (Chief FOODie) and with individual teams to understand the needs of each aspect of the business. Each day you will be making decisions around design and planning that will affect the performance and integrity of data. This is when your forward thinking, API clairvoyance comes into play. Because if you can anticipate both what is needed today, and where those decisions will take FOODit in the future, then you could be our Senior super-star with the power and ability to envision SQL, NoSQL, Conceptual, logical and physical schemas all at the same time in your head. Our software today allows restaurants to have a white label website with apps running in the restaurant kitchen controlling printers, social media tools that categorizes all photos of their food on the internet, and much more. But we are just at the starting line of what we have on the drawing board.

At the end of the day, you can go home knowing that you’ve helped consumers find the food they love, and helped independant restaurants grow.

Essential Skills

• 1 to 2 years designing APIs. You have worked with developers to help growth, and still kept the integrity of the stack & data

• 5+ years in software design, development or technical product management

• Able to document APIs and work with a development team to optimise APIs

• Deep level of understand around data models and effect of design choice on performance ( SQL, NoSQL, Conceptual, logical and physical schemas)

• Able to hack together “a client” that could use your own APIs

You must be eligible to work in the U.K

Great to have

• Preferred to have development back in Java, eles Python, Go or PHP ( we use Google App Engine )

• Used Google Cloud Endpoints

• Understand the common design, data models and user flows for an e-commerce marketplace or ERP system
