Fortius Sport & Health is a spectacular new 148,000 sq ft facility in Burnaby, British Columbia that is home to an integrated team of sport & exercise medicine specialists such as sport physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, podiatrists, optometrists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, exercise physiologists, biomechanists, pedorthists, dietitians, psychologists and kinesiologists. This team works together and shares their complementary expertise to deliver precise, customized treatment and training plans designed to maximize recovery and performance for athletes of all ages and abilities.

 Fortius Sport & Health is also the site of a 3 story, 60 room lodge for athletes and teams whose training crosses over several days. The facility includes a gymnasium, an artificial turf soccer pitch, meeting rooms and strength and conditioning work out facilities.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  •   Design and implement individual training plans for athletes of all ages in the Training Centre @ Fortius.
  •   Design and implement training programs for Strength and conditioning,  and testing of teams and groups.
  •   Foster Fortius member and client relationships with an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and customer service oriented approach
  •   Perform functional movement screens and incorporate results of functional, physiological and biomechanical assessments into client training programs
  •   Prepare and deliver educational seminars on a variety of health and fitness conditioning topics for a diverse clientele
  •    Integrate and work collaboratively with the Fortius Practitioner team
  •    Work cooperatively with clients to set and achieve functional goals
  •    Embody a philosophy of excellence, health and wellness at all times
  •   Stay active in professional development and maintain current expert knowledge in the field
  •   Provide exceptional customer service, creating and cultivating solid client-coach relationships
  •   Actively prospect and pursue new contacts and clients
  •   Communicate and take direction from the Director, Fortius Training Centre and other members of the Fortius Institute team
  •   Maintain professional certifications as well as knowledge of all Fortius policies, procedures and protocols
  •   Participate in department meetings, clinical training, and in-services
  •   Maintain a strong professional presence in the community
  •   Participate in clinical studies and research activities as required
  •   Maintain training area in a safe and clean manner
  •   Assist with assessing quality of client care

Qualifications


  •          Masters with a focus on Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Sports Sciences or a related field
  •          Experience in training group/team  training is an asset
  •          Experience in training gymnasts, dancers, figure skaters, etc.
  •          Current exercise physiology and strength and conditioning credentials/certifications are expected  (i.e.  CSCS, CSEP-CEP, NSCA-CSCS, CSEP-CPT, ACSM Exercise Specialist, or equivalents)
  •          Minimum 5 years’ experience as a practicing kinesiologist in a multi-disciplinary environment
  •          Minimum 2 years’ experience in a related position responsible for developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for the complete development cycle of an athlete, aligning with The Canadian LTAD model.
  •          Current First Aid and CPR
  •          Able to deal with issues with the utmost professionalism and confidentiality
