Job Description

Purpose of position:
Independently develop products and processes to keep Foster Farms products competitive and profitable. Evaluate food ingredients, new technologies and processing equipment for application to Foster Farms. Provide technical services to operations as requested.

Essential Job Functions:
Provide technical support to develop and implement new and/or improved processes and products.

Identify, test and optimize production parameters which will improve yields and processing efficiencies.

Maximize utilization of all available raw materials for product formulations to obtain least-cost formulating while maintaining corporate quality standards.

Prepare, update, and issue cost estimate requests and new labels and provide technical assistance to operations.

Qualifications

Requirements:
B.S. or M.S. in Meat Science, Poultry Science, Food Science or related field; in addition to five-seven years experience in meat or poultry product development

At least three-five years of direct involvement in product development and commercialization testing.

Understanding of specification/receipt management (PLM) software

Worked for or with multi-component meal manufacturers

Must have strong problem solving skills, sound judgment and decision making ability

Knowledge of poultry processing, food processing and related equipment

Excellent written and oral communication skills, computer literate in word processing and spreadsheets and have excellent math skills - must be able to formulate food products.

Must be able to communicate effectively with varying levels of management cross functionally


Physical Requirements:
Must have reliable transportation

Must be able to travel 30 %

Must have ro be able to obtain a CA drivers license

Must be able to have consistent attendance in the Turlock, or other assigned Foster Farms’ s office

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time

Must be able to drive to various company and vendor locations

Must be able to work on the computer for long periods of time
