Job Description

This positions ensures that all Foster Poultry Farms’ and subsidiaries’ divisions comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to all vehicle operators, transportation equipment and permissible operations in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington by providing best practices, training and audits to all vehicle operators and management. The position improves company safety and reduces potential liability by providing recommendations and guidance to senior management on policy and safety/compliance programs while overseeing directly and indirectly vehicle safety professionals and specific programs designed to enforce compliance and promote safety and accident reduction. Direct the investigation and coordinate responses to accidents, citations and inspections involving vehicle operations.

Oversee the development and integration of corporate programs that comply with changing federal, state and local laws (e.g. DOT drug testing, DQ files, onboarding, Powered Industrial Equipment, Rail safety, behavioral based safety, Safe Driving awards, permits and licensing)

Manage and develop vehicle safety team direct and indirect reports and the vehicle safety department to include budgeting

Investigate vehicle accidents to identify causes, determine liability, and recommend corrections

Provide/oversee training to management and vehicle operators

Measure and provide vehicle safety performance statistical reports or key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate their relevance


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of management experience.  Management experience is highly desired.

Experience in the large truck transportation with a strong working knowledge of Federal and California commercial vehicle regulations

Experience in safety related fields and accident investigations/reduction.Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to work in both individual and team settings with minimum supervision.

Experience writing policies and programs.

Ability to independently manage projects and change initiative, working knowledge of project management is desired.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc...
