Job Description
Purpose of position:
The Designer will work closely with the Creative Services Manager and other members of the internal creative services team to provide creative and production support on all projects. She/he has a good understanding on the impact that design has on business, the confidence and integrity to present solution oriented concepts, along with a strong affinity for branding, identity creation, creative focus and technical ability. The Designer is responsible for the development and execution of all creative/marketing deliverables including POS, packaging, collateral, presentations, logos, trade show or promotional signage, sell sheets, digital assets (social media, banner ads, microsite, landing pages, etc) and some minor photography.
This position will partner with the Creative Services Manager and/or Coordinator to understand creative objectives, parameters and timelines to ensure the successful execution of all projects. Oversee the entire life cycle of creative projects from concept to design, development and delivery. Additionally, the Designer must possess extensive productions skills and thorough understanding of workflow processes to ensure consistency and high standards in design work and contribute to adherence of department standards and timelines.
Essential Job Functions:
Create POS/Collateral designs for print
Develop package design and prepare files for print
Develop front end digital design and prep for launch
Manage project scheduling to ensure accurate timing with department workflow calendar
Edit an approve creative projects ensure objectives are maintained
Stay informed of company products, current graphic design trends, tools, and industry
Advise Creative Manager on design considerations, and liaise with internal creative team including Senior Designer and supporting Designers on creative solution, best practices etc.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Interactive Media or equivalent work experience and three-four years experience in the creative industry functioning as graphic designer
A solid background in graphic design techniques/theory and a strong portfolio demonstrating mastery of the following disciplines: advertising/promotional (POS) campaigns, web design and packaging
Experience in conception, design, and production, leveraging qualitative/quantitative research when available
Comprehensive skill set with core design principles, typography, color theory and layout
Proficient in Mac Systems and Adobe Suite products: Illustrator, InDesign, PhotoShop and other mainstream graphics programs
Experience with image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
Provides a consistent point of view; ability to contribute to the strategic development of an assignment; creative ideas and the ability to promote conceptual thinking among the team
Ability to direct outside vendors (photographers, production companies, etc)
Ability to communicate professionally and clearly (verbal and written) with co-team members, other functional departments, contract sales team, managers, and suppliers
Attention to details with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work within specific timeframes and good presentation skills and client facing skills are desirable
Preferred Requirements:
Experience working with CPG (consumer packaged goods) products – food industry
Understanding of photography (composition, light source, aperture settings, beauty vs silhouette shots)
Versed in various substrates and print methods, etc (Litho vs Flexography)
Versed in various substrates, print methods, etc. (Litho, Flexography and rotogravure) and ability to conduct quality control press checks
Strong concept sketching skills
Understanding of video (shooting and editing)
Illustration techniques and hand lettering skills a plus
Good understanding of Flash, HTML, CSS, or other front-end development technologies
Understanding of best practices for social media design
Understanding of WordPress or similar content management system
Capable of working in a fast paced, high pressure situations consistent and reliable attendance
Creative thinker who is intellectually curious and driven by new learning’s and continuous growth
Familiar in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Physical Requirements:
Capable of working in a fast paced, high pressure situations consistent and reliable attendance
Ability to travel, ability to obtain valid CA Drivers License & obtain reliable transportation for business travel
