Job Description
Prepare work schedules and mechanic duty assignments as required to support the total maintenance program and the requirements of production and USDA personnel
Provide technical assistance to assigned personnel in the performance of their duties in: Proper operation of equipment, proper use of maintenance manuals and schematics, efficiency in troubleshooting, proper maintenance and repair of equipment
Works with manager to hire, train, develop and counsel on-site maintenance employees according to company policy/procedure and union contract
Perform frequent on-the-job inspections to ensure: safe working habits, safe work areas, quality of workmanship, effectiveness of maintenance and repairs
Ensure a safe work environment by training and conducing prompt and thorough accident investigation
Works with manager to prepare maintenance operating budget and adhere to budgeted cost parameters
Solicits bids for outside contract work and schedules and supervises outside contractors
Qualifications
Must have a B.S. Degree or equivalent work experience: six years maintenance experience with a minimum of three years management/supervisory experience –preferably in the food processing industry
Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read write and understand English; Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Must have general computer knowledge, familiar with or ability to learn Microsoft Office programs, Alchemy and KRONOS
Must be able to work to work varying shifts and have regular attendance
Must be able to evaluate supervision/employees fairly and objectively
Must exhibit strong leadership skills and be self-motivated
Must be able to prioritize/adjust quickly to a changing work environment with minimal supervision to meet changing production needs
Must have strong electrical, refrigeration, mechanical and analytical skills
Must be able to function well under pressure
Must be able to stand on the production floor for varying amount of times with or without accommodations
Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check
