Job Description

Purpose of the Position:

Provide H.R. support to Management and primarily union employees in maintaining employee records and documentation. Act as a back-up to all other HR Assistant positions. Provide overall support (administrative & clerical, secretarial), to the Human Resources Department Management staff (Director of H.R., Labor Relations Mgr., H.R. Administrator & HR Supervisors) as required as well as providing H.R. support to the division.


Essential Job Functions:

Perform reception tasks for the Belgravia Plant Human Resources office which includes interpreting, assisting and advising employees and managers regarding collective bargaining agreements, leave management, payroll and benefit administration, HR procedures and policies within the specified guidelines including working to resolve simple and complex issues in these areas.

Maintain attendance records for bargaining unit employees.

Complete and maintain leaves of absences and respective log.

Perform weekly payroll tasks to include calculation and payout of sick, vacation, jury, funeral and holiday pay. Make proper adjustments based on availability/eligibility of associated balances.

Perform miscellaneous duties including: typing of memos and job letters, issuing ID badges, providing wage loss verification requests, ordering SDI claims forms, and ordering office supplies.

Barcode and scan all documents pertaining to union and non-union employee records at the Belgravia Plant including, but not limited to Personnel Action Forms, Requisitions, Leaves of Absences, New Hire packets, excuse notes, disciplinary actions, EDD documents, verification's, evaluations/appraisals, and termination documents. Plus ensure documents were received by Central HR and applied to employee’s records.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

High School graduate or equivalent HR experience. College degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.

Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ability to work well independently and with minimal supervision.

Computer literate in Windows environment and proficient in Microsoft Applications at intermediate level.

Ability to read/write in English. Bilingual preferred (Spanish/Punjabi).

Exceptional customer service skills; Ability to work in a very faced-paced, constantly changing environment with employees and applicants from diverse backgrounds.
